Hiring Terms and Conditions

The number of persons MUST NOT exceed the number of berths under the Marine & Harbours regulations. Any person driving a houseboat must be over the age of 18 years and hold either a current drivers or boat operators’ licence and .05 driving laws apply.

Instruction on handling the houseboat are given before departure.

Boarding & Arrival Time is 1pm SHARP and the Paringa Bridge opens at 2.30pm on the FIRST day of hire. WE BOOK THE BRIDGE FOR YOU! If you will be arriving after these times, you need to email or call to make alternate arrangements.

On the LAST day of hire – the Paringa Bridge opens at 9.30am and to be moored at River Murray Houseboats Marina and departing the boat no later than 10am.

Email bedding requirements to jenna@rivermurrayhouseboats.com.au at least one week before arriving. Otherwise it is assumed that all queens will be made and a fee of $20 per bedroom will be charged for alterations.

Please ensure, you supply enough food and drinks for however many nights you are onboard the houseboat. Once you leave Renmark township, there are no shops. *Fees apply for any shopping lists that are required over your hire period.

All fuel used during the hire period will be paid for by the hirer at the completion of hire.

Travel at night is strictly forbidden.

The houseboat must be returned in good clean condition or an extra cleaning charge will apply. Smoking inside the houseboat is not allowed and additional cleaning fees will apply.

NO animals, firearms, chainsaws or motor bikes permitted on board.

Proprietors reserve the right to refuse permission to board at their own discretion.

Any damage to the houseboat or contents, including losses, is the responsibility of the Hirer who will be charged at cost.

CANOE HIRE: $20 PER DAY
ICE: Crushed $5 for 5kg – Block $10 for 13kg
SECURITY CAR PARK: $2 PER CAR OR TRAILER PER NIGHT

Please Note – NO FRUIT OR VEGETABLES TO BE CARRIED INTO SOUTH AUSTRALIA from interstate and must be safely disposed of before entering SA, fines do apply. However, fruit and vegetables purchased within SA from a supermarket, greengrocer or Adelaide Central Markets are allowed, provided you have a valid receipt to verify purchase.
NO SHOPPING BAGS IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA – please bring your own if you wish.

Please bring your own beach towels and extra toilet paper. We do not supply this.

Deposits and Security Bonds

A deposit of $600 is required within 7 days to confirm your booking.

The balance of payment is due 8 weeks prior to the hire period.
Balance can be paid by cheque or electronic transfer. (No credit card)
A CASH Security Bond is applicable on all boats and to be paid on the day of arrival to the manager. Bond amounts are as following per boat:

Little Gem $600
Swallow $600
Tequila Sunrise $700
Class Act $800
Murray Sunset $800
Happy Days $800
Desire $800

Cancellation Policy
This cancellation policy is widely accepted by the Houseboats hires association and members reserve the right to specify individual cancellation policies.
Cancellations notified more than 90 days prior to departure will be entitled to a full refund of moneys paid less $100 cancellation fee.
Cancellations notified less than 90 days and more than 45 days prior to departure will forfeit all moneys paid unless the houseboat can be re-booked for its full hire fee, in which case, all moneys paid will be refunded less $150 cancellation fee.
Cancellations notified less than 45 days prior to departure will forfeit all moneys paid unless the houseboat can be re-booked for its full hire fee, in which case, all moneys paid will be refunded less $200 cancellation fee.

Please note: Travel Insurance is recommended to cover any unforeseen circumstances or losses.
